The horrific incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at around 2am. The bus driver lost control of the vehicle and fell off a bridge, crashing into a pillar and finally landing several meters below on the central median strip beneath a motorway bridge.
The government of Veracruz announced that a total of 58 injured people were taken to hospitals. However, the number of injured has now risen to 63. Among the injured are 31 minors, as reported by the Mexican newspaper La Silla Rota Veracruz. It is suspected that the group of travelers came from the state of Chiapas.
